To reply to someone using the Quote function

1.  At their post click on the Quote icon to the upper right of their post.

2.  Once you are in preview mode and can see their quote click on the last icon that looks like a sheet of white paper with writing on it.  This is a toggle to let you see the editor's marks.

3.  Once you click on that icon you should be able to see the beginning and end quote marks.  They look  like this:

Beginning quote [ quote ]

End quote mark [ /quote ]

4.  Make sure your comments start AFTER the end quote mark.

I had to put a space between the brackets and the word quote so that you could see what it looks like.  When you use these marks there will be no spaces between the brackets and the word quote.

You can then click on preview to see if you've posted your comment correctly.

I found it by accident cause I couldn't figure out what was going on when I tried to quote someone's comment.  You take a couple of days off from the forum and they change how things work!  Geesh!  :-)

Dior did you find the toggle?

Click on the quote button above my post.

Then once you see my post - look for the smiley face icon.  On that same line in the icon buttons above your post is an icon that looks like a white piece of paper with printing on it.

Click on it once and it will show you the editor's marks.

Then try posting your "test" comment outside (to the left) of the [/quote] end quote mark.

Yes that's correct. It stays highlighted.  i.e. the area around the paper goes white instead of the grey that surrounds it when it's not toggled on.

As Lorna says, click on the last icon on the tool bar, the one that looks like a sheet of white paper with writing on, then you'll get space to put your words under whatever you're writing.

I have found that once you do it for the first time, you don't have to remember to do it each time. At least I've not had any problem. It's probably one of the easiest lessons I've learned WWHS. Believe me, if I can learn it, ANYBODY can!

That has got a bit easier recently. Usually you have to create a photoaccount then link your pictures to this site, but sometimes when you copy and paste an article with pictures in, it'll automatically copy over the codes in the original article over into this site for you. But then, sometimes it doesn't.
