Plotholes in Ocean's 11

Do you remember the one small but consistent complaint about 'Michael Clayton,' that the killer crew was sloppy in their hit on Michael? Of course, anyone who paid close attention knew that that was intentional, but there was a scene in the screenplay that laid it out really well. That scene didn't make the final cut of the movie, and I think that was a mistake.
Maybe the same sort of thing here.
LizzyNY wrote:Way2Old - Could that be what happened in "Oceans 11"? That something got cut or lost and then for some reason didn't get re-shot? I'm thinking about the robbery sequence when Danny and Linus go down the elevator shaft to get to the vault. They lowered themselves on ropes and then they cut the ropes, so how did Danny get back into the room with Bruiser after the robbery? He couldn't climb back up the ropes and he for sure couldn't just walk in the door because those two gorillas were there.
Either I'm truly stupid or someone fucked up and they figured nobody would notice! Either way, it's been driving me crazy since the first time I saw the movie - and I've seen it at least a dozen times! If you have an answer I will be grateful forever!
amaretti wrote:I agree . I could not figure out how he got back .
Way2Old4Dis wrote:I would have to go back and watch the movie again to see what's there, but in the screenplay version, when Linus looks up and sees Danny and asks him, "How did you get here?", Danny answers, "Crawlspace."
Danny had the plans for every inch of the casino, so the assumption is that he had an alternate way in and out of the room.
I'll have to dig out the screenplay to make sure. You may be right about the deleted scene scenario.
I was always thrown off by the flyers in the duffel bags myself...

Without anyone know.....

It never occurred to me that he might have an alternate route to use. You made me have a "Duh!" moment because that's such an obvious answer - but if there was another way in/out of the vault (obviously easier than lowering yourself down a shaft on a rope!) why didn't they go in that way in the first place?

Don't go to any trouble. It's really not important, just annoying. I did want to ask you, though, how you get access to screenplays. Do you have to be a member of one of the professional organisations or are there online sites where anyone can see them?

The flyers in the duffel bags, the logo on the floor, the timing, the tapes - everything about that stupid robbery confuses me! Every time I think I have it figured out, I lose it and get all confuzzled all over again!![]()

I think Soderbergh mentioned that this was the only plothole of the film that he couldn't explain.Way2Old4Dis wrote:I was always thrown off by the flyers in the duffel bags myself...
With Danny getting out of the vault, I always assumed he and Linus strolled out with the rest of the gang and then Danny found his crawlspace and got back into the locked room. How he didn't end up with dust and crap from the crawlspace all over his tux is beyond me.

The guy inside the room was his buddy but the two guards outside the room weren't.

Did he really?!!! Well, that takes the cake! It's one whomping great heck of a plothole to not explain! I hope it bugs him as much as it bugs me.

That's kind of a logical solution ( so naturally I never thought of it) but you're right - he'd end up pretty dusty in the end. Although, I always thought he looked in pretty good shape for someone who was supposed to be getting beat up for lord knows how long. I guess that was another plothole Soderbergh couldn't explain.

Then, of course, he was in his tux, then in the black t-shirt, then back into his tux. Where did he change clothes? But, I do remember him "brushing" off his tux. Maybe that's after Bruiser was beating him up. Bruiser was also his "attorney" in O12 who got him out of jail.
