How to post videos in this forum

Posting pictures in this forum takes a few steps, but posting videos is easy peasy! In case anyone was wondering how to post videos here, it couldn't be any easier. Here's how:

1. Most videos have a little button next to them that says something like 'share'. Click on this button.

2. You will then usually get a choice of options, including one that says 'embed'. Click on the 'embed' button

3. The embed button will give you a long string of what looks like complete nonsense. Using your mouse, select all of that nonsence and copy that nonsense (use Ctrl + copy on your keyboard, or right click on it and choose 'copy').

4. Then come to this forum and paste that string of nonsense into your message. That's it! If it hasn't worked, then most likely you didn't select all of the nonsense code, which can be up to 10 sentences long. Go back and make sure you got it all.

That's it!

How to add YouTube videos to this site

There couldn't be anything easier than this:

1. click on the 'share' button that's either below the video or in the top right hand corner of the video:



2. click on the 'embed' button:



3. copy the code and paste it in your post:



Note: most other videos on the internet also have share and embed buttons somewhere and can be shared in this forum exactly the same way as youtube videos do.

Thanks for the helpful hint Katie. Tried it and it worked. I was using old way of copying the video http address and paste and it did work 85% of the time but this is better. I'm sure this is a duplicate video but just used it as a test.

If there's an 'embed' symbol or button next to a picture then in theory it should work, yes.

Thanks - I haven't found an embed symbol on pictures yet but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up.

There sometimes are 'embed' buttons on instagram or other social media sharing sites. Some of Stacy's earlier pictures were easy to embed but impossible now she's using whosay.

Help. How do you put videos on site when there is no embed, twice today I've tried copying links that have not worked

If there's no embed, I've always posted link with good results.  You have to remember that some countries don't get them.  Europeans have posted things that Americans can't open and the other way around.  I know you're in Oz, but it may be the same issue?

Posting you tube videos is easier now with the new 
You tube icon. 
Just paste the link in there and voila....
it appears.
