SOFA queen Lorraine Kelly has urged Cheryl Cole not to drop her Geordie accent for the US X Factor.
For Scots-born Lorraine vividly remembers being told to forget about a job in front of the camera because viewers wouldn't understand her Glaswegian vowels.

But she's had the last laugh, with her morning chat show trouncing Daybreak in the ratings - and a new role announced today as the narrator of the forthcoming CBeebies series Raa Raa The Noisy Lion.


And her Scottish tones have also charmed George Clooney. Lorraine recalled: "He'd been doing interviews all day. But when he walked in he said 'Oh my God you're from Scotland' and instantly there is an affection and something there."

Euan seems to have lost his accent - they're running Men Who Stare at Goats on Star Movies at the moment and I keep catching bits of it.

He does seem to love the accented women!

Well once Gees' up my apple n pears, stoned the crows and chuffed my mint balls, he won't know himself!!!!

You know could be choosing GF's with different accents helps him remember who he's dating at any given time!

Ooh that reminds me of such an embarrassing Renee Zellwegger moment. I think it was at the AMC roast some years ago. Renee got up on stage to make a speech about George and she did it in an incredibly annoying baby girl voice, I guess because she thought it was sexy for him.

Then they cut to a clip of her on film where she was talking perfectly normally. The contrast between the two was horribly embarrassing and very funny to watch.

Krista does the same thing - baby to normal to baby. C'mon girls, anyone older than 5, it's NOT cute.

You've got to wonder if George does find it cute. And if so, what the hell's wrong with him?!??

Maybe that's how he likes them to talk when they do the nasty.
