I don't really think it's a surprise that George didn't get nominated for Gravity - he was barely in the film!

Golden Globes 2014: Snubs and Surprises

Surprise: Given the emphasis the HFPA’s gives to star power, George Clooney did not receive a nomination for Gravity while his costar Sandra Bullock, as deserved, got a nod for her leading performance in the drama category. Thankfully the Foreign Press is beginning to understand that it is okay to not reward people like Brad Pitt and George Clooney for every above average performance they churn out.

Agreed. But if he's not filming, I wouldn't be surprised to see him there in a presenting/supporting/promoting capacity.....

How is this to be meant? So does the english press believe that other foreign press believe famous people like George and Brad should get a nomination for every film just because they are famous?

Interesting, never came across this way.

All what I know is, in every time he was nominated for GG, he was either sweeping the other awards or being the second front runner..

No. The article is talking specifically about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which is the association running the Golden Globe awards.

The HFPA was for many years something of a joke, but eventually the golden globes got taken more seriously as an awards ceremony, although there are always question marks over their choices.

I think he turned down presenting this year, because as the last year BP winner and as a huge star, it is not possible that they didn't ask him to present..

But, if you remember, he pretty much stayed in the background at all the events and let Grant and Ben give the thank-you speeches. I think Ben is supposed to be there tonight, so he will probably do some presenting.
