Obama with young Hollywood - George being replaced
Apparently George is not Obama's sole Hollywood interest. He is rallying the younger generation to get involved. Does that work in US politics? Using celebs to garner attention and votes or do the masses just roll their eyes at another overpaid, privileged celebrity who has little or none of the same stresses in their lives, telling them how to vote and how to "make a difference"? Here in Oz it wouldn't go down well and wouldn't be benefical to the celebs career.
A number of celebs at this "event" previously have spoken up for Obama or have had contact with him in his president role in the past 4 years through charity endeavours, etc. Also, Jeremy Renner is 41 years old. How is he considered young Hollywood? Maybe the President wants to get advanced tickets to the new Bourne film coming out shortly. Sidenote - how good does the new Bourne film look?
Barack Obama Met Privately With 25 Young Hollywood Stars to Help His Reelection
Barack Obama privately met on Thursday morning at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with 25 young Hollywood stars to get them involved in his reelection.
Among those at the exclusive meeting were Ian Somerhalder, Jessica Alba, Zach Braff, Dianna Agron, Zachary Quinto, Sophia Bush, Jared Leto, Jeremy Renner, Tatyana Ali, Josh Radnor, Brandon Routh, Ben McKenzie, Bryan Greenberg, and Kal Penn, who tweeted afterwards, “Had a great morning w/ @BarackObama in LA. Talked about job creation, education, our troops, & getting YOU involved.”

The meeting was part of Obama’s “Young America Effort,” which focuses on energizing younger voters to go to the polls and support him.
Many of the stars took to Twitter following the get-together to share their thoughts.
Somerhalder wrote, “Totally surreal morning. Met up with some friends, had coffee with President Obama now tweeting. The 21st century.”
Leto tweeted, “Great meeting with @BarackObama this morning. Thanks Mr. President for the inspiring words and thoughts .#ObamaTheRightChoice.”
“Got up bright & early to hear @BarackObama speak w an awesome group #YoungAmerChat,” said Alba.
Routh noted he was “Honored to speak w/ POTUS @BarackObama again today! Looking forward to helping #GetTheVoteOut.”
“It was amazing to see @iansomerhalder @ZacharyQuinto@DiannaAgron and @BryanGreenberg with the POTUS today. Good peeps. #YoungAmericans,” tweeted Bush.
Quinto added, “all in all? not a bad way to start my morning. get fired up. now. it. is. ON.”
“Maybe the only man I truly get nervous around. Worth the early wakeup call,” said Agron.
And Greenberg offered that while “hanging” with the president, he was ”talking politics, NBA, and making goofy faces.”
The stars also posed with the president, and tweeted out the photos (SEE BELOW).

Re: Obama with young Hollywood - George being replaced
It probably works better with the younger age group than the older in my opinion. Many young people are not interested in politics, so their favorite celebrities--their own age- might move some of them out of their apathy. You are right though--even in the US it is a fine line to walk for both the candidate and the celebrity. Most celebrities in the US lean left and are also very privileged, so it can be used by the other side as an indication to some that the candidate is too liberal on social issues and/or out of touch with the concerns of working class folks. George still gets flack for speaking out about Charleston Heston and gun control even years later, so political involvement does turn off a segment of the fans (usually the ones that disagree with the issue!)

Re: Obama with young Hollywood - George being replaced
I don't think that G is being replaced. If he showed up he would overshadow everyone else. G's already done his part with fundraising, twisting the arms of Hollywood's powerful behind the scenes, and getting Obama to support gay rights, a very, very big issue in Hollywood. Time to show that young Hollywood also supports Obama, and will work to get out the youth vote. Wonder if they are being pressured by their agents, as a way of getting free publicity and future work with very liberal directors. Personally I wonder who Romney will choose as VP. May show a very, very conservative and thus anti-gay rights trend for the Republicans.

davidarochelle- Super clooney-astic fantastic
