The bisexual star - who dated Marilyn Manson for three years - also explained working with the likes of George Clooney and Robert Redford on films encouraged her to embrace her sexuality and stand up for what she believes in.
Speaking about the pair in an interview with Stylist magazine, she said: "Working with people like them is one of the reasons I finally came out [as bisexual] this year.
"If you're in a position where you have the opportunity to go on record and say what you believe in and hopefully help someone, I feel like there is no reason to hide who you are."
